They seem to operate in different universes, though to imagine a conversation would be interesting. When I was doing some work on Richard Rorty about a million years ago, I thought there might be some possibilities.

I remember back in the early 90s Hauerwas acknowledged deconstruction (though didn’t really engage it), especially the decentring of the sovereign subject. That’s as close to Berry-Derrida as I think we are likely to get.

The term "private" is unhelpful in this context. For most folks it connotes "for profit" (as in "private sector") or "idiosyncratic" ( as in "my private opinion"). It is especially unhelpful in higher education. "Public" universities are as dependent on "the private sector" via corporate funding.
