Conkle's Hollow is a fun little hike on misty mornings. This 200 feet deep gorge is made of Black Hand Sandstone, deposited in a river valley during the early Carboniferous (350 mya). Flowing water created it and is now eroding it. Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve near Logan Ohio, 07 Aug 2011.

An uneven rock face with a cave in the middle. Three thin streams of water are cascading downward over the cave opening. Green treetops blot out the sky above and the ground below is a rocky stream bed with moss-covered boulders at the edges.

First up: celebrating our anniversary, we went to a rural Ohio hotel, had dinner, hit the sauna, swimming pool, and cold plunge, watched fireworks from our balcony, and then took a Sunday morning hike to this fine waterfall.
