Yep, agreed, the UI is incredibly confusing ^^. Also, I still don't really know if I could estimate the costs correctly over a longer period of time (like for budgeting), just from the information provided.

After contacting support they refunded our prepaid packages and gave us some credit for the new mode. Not a fan of the new mode, but seems to be slightly cheaper for our usage.

What amazes me about this story, almost more than the coincidence, is the fact that the phone still works. I have no idea how old that phones is, but it looks a good 10 years old. Tech that old still working is sadly astounding today, when shit starts breaking after 2-3 years
