I really like the show Veep. I remember I was rewatching an episode in 2016, during republican primaries. There is a scene with a ridiculous presidential debate in the show. It made me realize that since the first time I watched that scene, reality had become way more ridiculous than the satire.

I used to enjoy the old "Daily show" with John Stewart and especially the Colbert Report.

But since Trump got elected, I have had a hard time finding these news satire shows funny. The completely broke them.

So the Turkish expectations are:

Kurds must first disarm with zero guarantees and steps taken by the Turkish state, then they can "negotiate" from a position of total surrender? Meanwhile Turkey is systematically murdering Kurds in Syria...?

Several EU politicians call on Turkey to stop aggression against Kurds in Syria "because the Kurds fought ISIS". True, the Kurds saved your butt, but it disturbes me how the right to self-detemination is rendered conditional this way. Kurds have rights because they *are*, not because they saved you!

I remember lots of international volunteers in YPG saying they are in Syria to fight ISIS, in order to save Europe from them.

Kobane in 2024 is like Afrin in 2018, just good ol' Turkey and their ethnic cleansings. Nobody cared.

Kobane in 2014 was about ISIS. ISIS was not a card carrying "NATO ally". And people feared it would affect them directly. Lots of attacks happened in Europe in 2014-2016.

But it is not of much use for me, as at the best of times I only have half-baked ideas anyway.

I see lots of people ask for drafts. I wonder whether I am the only person that never used drafts on twitter.

It's a puzzle to me why people are interested in these fake boxing matches, involving people that are famous for being hated on the internet.

As can be seen from my many angry tweets, I never understood why western journalists and academics discuss Turkish elections as if they are in any way real.

I imagine people outside the west, and in particular the US, will remain on twitter longer.
