I very much enjoyed this launch, with @thendbee.bsky.social talking about the chapter we wrote together (about neurodivergent students, focusing on undergrads) and @brianirvine.bsky.social enthusing delightfully about the whole book.

Also several other speakers. They're all good! 😊

I just realised that the video I recorded with @thendbee.bsky.social, about our chapter on neurodiversity in higher education, is on YouTube.

In @thendbee.bsky.social & my chapter on the lived experiences of neurodivergent undergrads, we barely touched on monotropism.

I think reading it in conjunction with Carl's would really deepen someone's understanding of both, though - a neat example of the book's coherency!

Launches, 2024 – Fergus Murray I've been busy this year and last, with various collaborations: parts of bigger projects, which are now coming to fruition. A still from Discovering You're Auti

I'm really appreciating the feeling of things finally coming to fruition, after about a year and a half of collaborating on chapters and animations.

Here are some events that I'm looking forward to:

Which one? Both? Lol

Does the ND Student Network count? I’m running it by myself at the moment (would love some volunteers, I won’t be a student forever and need someone to take over eventually. Lol). And do faith support groups count?

23.06.2025 05:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Agreed. Even in basic undergrad study we’re shown just how much of society is restricted by concepts that aren’t defined in academia. From the concept of intelligence and the, frankly idiotic, IQ cult to the whole weight-health debate and BMI!

22.06.2025 07:26 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Wish I hadn’t now. That’s a whole lot of ignorance and idiocy, right there.

22.06.2025 07:22 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Since when has a concept had to be useful (or even work) for it to be implemented into society? There are countless terms that have never been definitively defined by science or academia that are used to create infrastructures that you all use probably on a daily basis. Such as intelligence, IQ, BMI

Celebrating Light on Your Terms The Summer Solstice is often celebrated with bonfires, sun-watching, and group rituals. But if your body or brain says no to heat, crowds, or sensory overwhelm, you’re not alone. Here are a few hop…

Wrote a thing that raises the voices and shares experiences of #disabled and #neurodivergent #Pagans and how they practice their #faith to give ideas to others!

Included are #accessible #ritual ideas for #druids #heathens #witches #wiccans and more!

In the 1400s England decided that twelve year old girls could be engaged but they couldn’t be married because it was too dangerous for them to get pregnant. Some of them got around it and still married their girls off but they couldn’t have sex.

In the 1400s. Something to think about.

So, I did a thing. Still not sure how I managed it. @fergus.oolong.co.uk probably did the heavy lifting.

@krysiawally.bsky.social and @keatesresearch.bsky.social did the rest with their masterful editing.

Neurodiversity at School – Fergus Murray (and wherever children are learning) Neurodiversity is the idea that different brains work differently, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, even though some

As long as I'm posting about my upcoming book chapters on neurodiversity and education, I might as well reshare my page of resources all about the two (focusing on secondary school education, because that's where I have the most experience).

Education at all levels has a huge amount to learn from neurodivergent people, and I hope that these two volumes will do a little to help shift the field towards listening to these insights.

Inclusive education is not easy, but it's vital. Educators are struggling more than they need to.

The second book is Applications and Practices for Empowering Neurodivergent Learners, and I co-wrote the opening chapter with @safriedman.bsky.social.

It's titled "What autistic-led theories mean for education" - specifically, neurodiversity, monotropism and the double empathy problem.

It's titled "Neurodiversity in Higher Education: Reflections from Lived Experience" - we met through the Neurodivergent Student Network she set up.
