if they wanted this to be about how vi "wants" her old family but "needs" cait... maybe they should have written it that way. maybe they shouldn't have given cait the half-baked fascist dictator arc, if she's what vi "needs." or maybe, as would make a lot more sense at the start of the season, maybe

her relationship with cait. and they couldve easily written it like that, seeing as cait hates jinx and is on this destructive revenge quest. but no. despite hating jinx, cait fully accepts this. she doesn't even get mad. she just quietly is fine with it, now.

obviously you have the "vander false hope arc" in the middle where she's more open to bonding with her sis again, but i wouldn't really call this codependency or an unhealthy attachment. its a pretty reasonable thing, where circumstances drastically change. and it doesn't come at the "expense" of

later, she even almost kills jinx herself! the only reason she stops isn't because she realized she still loves her sister or is too codependent or whatever. she stopped because she realized jinx wasn't lying about vander. if not for that, she was fully about to murder her.

because she almost killed isha, a child. she was fully on board with killing jinx. and it wouldn't have been hard to include a scene where vi really struggles with this, where she hesitates or seems to Lie about how she feels. but that doesn't happen. she's totally jaded from the first episode.

firstly... vi had already let go at the start of the season. she was under no illusion about getting her sister back. she not only says that she knows her sister is "gone", but explicitly gives cait the OK to kill jinx / "take the shot" without hesitation.

the only reason she's mad at cait later is

another arcane cope i've seen floating around is this idea that what vi needed to "learn" this season was to let jinx/powder go. that what she "wanted" was to have her family back, but what she "needed" was to let go and be with her cop gf instead.

i heavily disagree with this, for several reasons-

i really want the next chapter of SB to be ready soon, and i can do it if i can just focus on it, but the problem for the last 1.5 months (ish) is that it got too long and too convoluted and overwhelming because i wanted the chapter to be too many things
