I just watched a few crime series form India, it did not stand out for me, but their movies did (in general, as you mentioned some directors make very different movies, like Rajamoulli in Tollywood).

Oh, I did not see that in the comments, but I truly hate comparison and competition in general. I'm aware that many people do it, sometimes me too, but more as a counter measurement.
It's truly fine that cdrama is closest to your heart :)

Yes, but
1.) I think it is totally fine you love cdramas and they are better for you. Taste is subjective, these aren't universal truths, but personal preferences.
2.) Historical dramas in this scale can be made only by 2 countries: China and India. Because of their vast culture and history.

Yes, I already started Immortal Ascension, our zero to hero really looks like Yang Yang :D
It is quite different from the drama, which I stopped around ep 5-6. My limited experience says that donghua follows the source materials (novels) closely, and dramas are more open for modifications.

Youtube dropped me one from Bilibili, but it is a totally different story (gorgeous visuals though).

I got used to the tone of #JoyOfLife S2. It is still not the binge watchable drama that I cannot stop watching, but it gives me a steady pace and base to return to, when I'm not in the mood for anything.

Fun fact: the song was inspired by Qu Yuan's poem (~300 BC). Both have the same title: Tianwen (Heavenly Questions or Asking the Heaven).
The song borrowed the questioning motif, it captures the same melancholic mood, existential reflection. The context is different: martial art, life, romance.

If you like him, there is a movie series on Netflix, adapted from anime: Rurouni Kenshin. It's a bit wild, if you aren't used to live action anime adaptations, but he is good. There isn't much romance though.

Usually I don't care about the categories, I just watch whatever I like :D

But if a category gets boring or pisses me off, I will be careful not to choose a drama from it for a while.
