I’ve often seen elderly women selling their groceries in Civic Center outside of SROs in S.F. These ladies aren’t hardened criminals, they’re barely scraping by. They’re selling the groceries for cheaper prices than the stores to other folks who are also in need of help.

I read the intro and stopped because I want to savor it.

My parents still have dental insurance. They’re dead. I tried to cancel it, but the company said I have to wait until I’m legally their estate’s administrator until I can. That process can take up to two years.

😍 We may not be the City on the Hill (even if we have so many steep ones) but we strive to be. We’re so lucky that so many of us (like you and I) love it.

I would imagine it really sucks, but it’s so normal. It’s a survival instinct.

The City is $1.5 B in debt. It’s a combo of losing revenue from the pandemic and never recovering, Trump denying the City the FEMA funds we were supposed to get, and other various stuff. They’re also in a hiring freeze because of the debt. It’s a sucky situation.

Having a lovely evening watching Miri and Violet take turns playing in a paper bag. It sounds weird that I bought a kitten for my kitten, but I’m so happy I did. The first few days after Violet came home were a little rocky but now they’re best buddies.

Thirty six years ago, my mom covered me with her body, crouched in a doorway to protect me from everything falling down around us during the 1989 earthquake. Then, when my dad got home from work a little while later, they went around to the neighbors to see if anyone needed help. I miss them.
