I’m excited to share that my art is on the cover of Advanced Healthcare Materials this month. Created for the Korin lab @technion.bsky.social
The image shows the use of hydrogels designed for precise embolization of brain aneurysms.

Illustrators call out journals and news sites for using AI art Bot-made art undermines research and public trust in science, say illustrators frustrated by inaccurate and outlandish depictions.

"AI images don’t succinctly or accurately communicate scientific concepts & could undermine public trust in science... inaccuracies wouldn’t fly if they were created by a person, β€œbut for some reason, having this sheen of fake polish that comes with AI kind of erases all of those standards” πŸ§ͺ#sciart

Our new paper is out. We point out that large brained (and often smart) mammals and birds have evolved very different distribution of neurons numbers in the brain.
This means that similar cognitive abilities have evolved in very different brains.

This is the actual supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy (Saggitrarius A*), observed by JWST (NIRCam) for over 9 hours.
The flickers you see are solar flares on a mind-boggling scale, bright enough to shine across 26,000 light-years of space.

This is the closest image of Saturn ever captured by the Cassini spacecraft. It shows the planet in a majestic and serene light, with its rings in the foreground. The planet's golden hues are highlighted by the sunlight filtering through its upper atmosphere. A notable feature is the intriguing hexagonal storm at the north pole, a unique weather phenomenon in our solar system. The image provides an unparalleled, close-up perspective, inviting viewers to appreciate the intricate details of Saturn's cloud bands and the sheer vastness of its ring system. It is a stunning portrayal of the beauty and complexity of this gas giant, captured from a vantage point closer than any human-made probe has ventured before.

Such a definitive approach would have a number of benefits. First, it would immediately lower the risk of engaging in model training, likely encouraging many new entrants to join the market for new Al products and services.
Second, it would counter the existential risk posed by the pending lawsuits against the leading American Al companies, allowing them to continue growing toward becoming as dominant globally in the 2020s as American social media and technology companies were in the 2000s and 2010s.

For Maths fans, 2025 is a square.
45Β² = 45 x 45 = 2025
Also,
9Β² x 5Β² = 2025
40Β² + 20Β² + 5Β² = 2025
My favourite?
1Β³+2Β³+3Β³+4Β³+5Β³+6Β³+7Β³+8Β³+9Β³ = 2025

A highly detailed gray image of the dorsal view of a zebrafish head pointing to the left with two large black eyes on either side. A complex network of magenta blood vessels look like tangled spaghetti in the center (brain region) of the image. There are dozens of ameba-shaped green cells around the brain blood vessels and a few well-defined green lymphatic vessels on either side of the head. Protruding from the skin on each side of the head, to the right (posterior) to the eye, there are three volcano-like structures with long, transparent, hair-like projections. These are hair cells that the fish uses to sense changes in water flow.

A 6-panel comic. In panel 1, two people talk against a snowy backdrop. In panel 1, the first person says "Did you know that if you rearrange the letters in SANTA, you get something sinister?" and the other says, "Yes: A ANTS." In panel 2, the first person says "Wait, no, that's-" The second says, "How do you think Santa finds his way to all those homes at night? Pheromone trails!" In panel 3, we're down in an ant nest. "Once the night is over, Santa returns to the North Pole, mates with the Queen Claus, and dies." There's a festive ant nest with an ant-bodied Mr and Ms Claus looking at each other lovingly. Panel 4, "The Queen begins laying eggs that will hatch into next year’s workers." The Queen lays eggs, and the workers are ant larvae with elf heads. Panel 5, "Next December, she will produce fertile Queens and Santas and the cycle will begin anew." The Queen lays eggs with both Santa and Ms Claus heads. In panel 6, we return to the two people talking, and the second person says "Of course, one queen must best the rest in combat, and the workers can't interfe-" "Stop." "But I haven't told you about the Santa-mimic spiders!"
