Don't fret about Digging in the Dark. Development will continue, even if only slowly. We're in too deep to back out now!
RIP Ozzy. Your legacy lives on.
Also, if you're unfamiliar with this "love letter to metal" adventure game, it is well worth trying or buying. Go get it!

So easy, right? :) New goal: install Docker and get Godot to build in a Mac OS container! That's my current goal, anyway.

Do anything special and the default neighbors go off the rails fast. Example: I made an item selection WHEEL. It spins. Godot can't even.

1) Put content inside a TabContainer with:
- Tabs Visible: false
- Use Hidden Tabs for Min Size: true
2) Add empty Control as a sibling
3) Switch between tabs to hide/show content.
Lots of really good progress today on Digging in the Dark. We're in the playtesting phase for this version. If it plays alright, I'll release a new closed alpha for participants soon, probably late Sunday.

There are health and fuel bars, a cargo space bar, and a popup window showing the player's inventory of gems, ores, and usable items. A hotbar of item icons is visible along the bottom. Depth and Cash are displayed along the top as text.
The new gameplay screen for Digging in the Dark: the same side view backdrop of earth, trees, and hills is much less obstructed by the user interface. The health, fuel, and cargo space bars appear the same way. The Depth and Cash displays are still text, but are now separate from each other with the currently selected usable item displayed between them. The hotbar is gone. Instead of a popup window in the center of the screen to display the player's inventory, a new panel spans the bottom of the screen, displaying the same information. The left pane lists the subsystems of the digging machine and their status. The center left pane shows usable item icons and their quantity in a ring with the currently selected item at the top of the ring. The center right pane is currently empty. The right pane displays the type and quantity of ores in the cargo hold as icons with numbers. On the far right is an eject button, currently disabled.
Here's a sneak peek at the new UI styling and the new systems panel for Digging in the Dark. Steady progress toward the open alpha milestone. Can't wait! ๐

Next, we will add STYLE! I sure am tired of seeing the default Godot UX buttons, borders, labels, fonts, and such.

A good start: fixed a soft crash on the title screen found by an early playtester. Next will be a change to the auto-save mechanics to hopefully prevent getting saved in an unwinnable situation.
