It is becoming increasingly obvious, in fact, that the role of the media is not only to tell Americans what they should think, but to convince an increasingly angry and alienated public that their neighbors have not come to the same conclusions. The logic is much like that used to dissuade voters from considering third parties: even if the third party challenger states opinions shared by the majority of Americans, Americans are constantly warned not to βwaste their voteβ for the candidate that actually reflects their views because no one else will vote for that candidate. Itβs hard to imagine a more obvious case of a self-fullling prophecy. The result is a mainstream ideologyβa kind of conservative centrism that assumes whatβs important is always moderation and the maintenance of the status quoβwhich almost no one actually holds (except of course the pundits themselves), .
Maintaining the status quo is an essential part of the job of the mainstream media.

Global Sea Surface Temperatures are likely even higher than the Eemian warm period, 125,000 years ago, when global sea levels were 5-10 meters higher than today.
October 2025 Sea Surface Temperatures still being above pre-2023 records is another indication of higher climate sensitivityπ

I've been in/around fringes and frontline mechanics of left politics on/off since 1980s.
Truly never heard such clarity, candour, self-awareness as in tonight's Green Party meeting.
Hey @zackpolanski.bsky.social, you did something I didn't think was possible - usually I'm the political one but last night my wife joined the green party. She's never been a member of a political party, and I never thought I'd see the day.
*Applause*
I suppose I shall join too*
The great dividers want you to think the problems in society are caused by migrants and refugees.
Theyβre wrong.
The problems in society are caused by an unjust economic system that protects the interests of the super-rich.
Horrifying reports have emerged that the RSF militia in has brutally massacred more than a thousand people in el-Fasher, Sudan.
The RSF is fighting against the government of Sudan and is backed by the UAE.
For those on the left who are not socialists, or who do not ally with socialist parties, I don't really understand: what exactly is the project? What is the plan?
