Irish parliament has worst gender diversity in western Europe, study finds Out of 174 seats in the November election, 44 went to women in a representation of slightly more than 25%

Despite the introduction of gender quotas in 2012, Irelandโ€™s parliament has the *worst* gender diversity in Western Europe, with only 25% of newly elected TDs being women. Much more needs to be done, at local as well as national level, to address this.

South Koreans who went to sleep before 10.30pm will have slept through the president declaring martial law to overthrow democracy, a military siege around the National Assembly, lawmakers scaling walls to bypass barricades, a vote to overturn it & the president vowing to imminently end martial law.

A bar chart that is described in the following text:

Asked which was the most important issue when deciding how to vote, housing/homelessness was the clear leader on 28 per cent, followed by the cost of living on 19 per cent and health on 17 per cent.

Economic stability is at 9 per cent, climate change at 4 per cent. Crime 2 per cent, local transport and roads 2 per cent and childcare 2 per cent. Immigration is at 6%.

Immigration โ€“ which had been prominent in the list of issues of public concern for much of the year โ€“ played a minor role, nominated by just 6 per cent.

If - as we've been told all year long by media pundits and politicians - there is a big crisis in public opinion over immigration and asylum, then why does it top the concerns of only six per cent of voters? Surely it's not to divert attention from the actual top three issues? #ge24

Irish Times exit poll shows immigration was the most important issue for six per cent of voters, climate most important for four per cent. Two issues within the margin of error of each other, but one received a disproportionate amount of coverage while the other was barely mentioned. #ge24
