I've often wondered how many of the prosecutions for "corruption" in China are for actual corruption and how many are means of getting rid of people who have pissed off party leaders in some other way. Sounds like lots of actual corruption (realizing that doesn't rule out party machinations too)?

"Fuck you money" has multiple meanings, but in the context of billionaires, having the money to tell literally anyone to fuck off results in a sort of social exile. You're no longer constrained by norma social norms, nor are you supported by any non-transactional relationships. Crazy making.

I just don't have the expertise and chops for it, but I've long argued there's a unifying theory of reactionary/fash aesthetics to be articulated by someone with the skillset. This new turn toward AI-driven misogyny and propaganda is making it so much more tangible.

If not that specifically, then something a lot like it I am sure! Maybe I'm just projecting patterns but it seems like a clear arc from stuff like Fear Factor to people doing it on their own on Instagram to people using the same approach to their career.
