I want to thank the amazing panelists in attendance for giving us their informed perspectives on how we can all continue to advocate for every Californian. Thank you to Jewish Family Service for providing us this opportunity and joining me in co-hosting this event.

As California grapples with the cuts made by the Trump Administration. Myself and many partners from the state, county and city, as well as local organizations, were hard at work this morning discussing housing, food insecurity, and support systems for San Diego’s aging population —

We got good ideas for focused policy and budget needs that I look forward to championing when the legislature returns, and support our environmental advocates in all the work they do.

This morning I convened my annual Environmental Roundtable with nearly 20 local leaders. Thanks to all the organizations who participated sharing their accomplishments and priorities for us to continue making the San Diego region sustainable —

and supply up to 40% of its own energy through onsite renewable resources!

Enjoyed a tour this morning of the progress on the East County Advanced Water Purification Project. Once fully completed next year with State support, the project will produce 30% of the district’s water supply through water reclamation, host an education space —

allowing us to better understand the need, secure critical funding, and direct outreach to get our most vulnerable neighbors into shelter and housing.
My deepest thanks to the foundation, PATH and all the volunteers who showed up before sunrise to do this essential work.

This count is a crucial tool in our work to address homelessness. The data gathered provides a vital picture of the unsheltered population in our riverbeds —
