Agree that dialog, the ability to empathize and restraint are the needed skillsets. I'd like to begin normalizing the term personhood. To me it cuts through a lot of the muck that tries to sort and categorize people, and implies equity- every single one of us is a person.

I feel this so much. I'm lucky enough to live near a woods I can visit every day in an attempt to destress. Then I write, and think, "So this is how I'm processing the end of the world; making up a new one filled with pretend people. La la la."

It concerns me that all this is ruining the dystopian novel genre, reducing it to, simply, current events.
