community is a thing you do. it’s seeing needs and filling them, it’s pooling resources (time, energy, material things) and allocating them to those who have need of them. it’s mutually taking care of one another.

I don't mean this as an attack, I'm genuinely interested. Have you thought about how we can actually change things?

And while I know that you're "not sitting by idly", a lot of ppl also say that, but it doesn't matter how active anyone is if our actions aren't actually having any impact at all.

The fact is most of what gets done is useless. Nothing has changed all year, and stubbornness is gonna get ppl killed.

The reality is that we're losing, and as hostile as I may have been in the past, my concern has always been about whether people will prioritise themselves and their own careers over the people who will literally be suffering badly as a result of this fight. I can't apologise for being very scared.

This has never been a personal attack on you. This has never been a personal attack on anyone ffs.

Am I rude? Yes, absolutely, sometimes.

Am I disruptive? Yes, I can be.

Does my message resonate with a large section of the community? Again, yes it absolutely does.

And the NGOs seem to think the community that I speak to and work with is worth sacrificing to avoid any introspection. Sigh.

I'm very pessimistic that NGOs will ever shift their strategies, no matter how bad things get.

The fact that they've spent so much time and energy trying to silence and shut down any criticism of their actions (including by me) is kinda evident.

I just wish they'd be honest with why.

We need to organise power. We need to make our community feel powerful and build alliances with other groups with power.

The NGOs hate this idea, because it's unorthodox and means making the community independent of their own control. But it's all we have left. If you fail us, we look elsewhere.

Just because the scientific battle is very compelling and convincing to you, doesn't mean it works for them.

If anything, they enjoy kicking scientists and tearing up their research. They think it's powerful.

They don't respond to facts. They respond to power.

They want to see us suffer. They take immense joy in knowing that they have made us extremely angry and upset.

I know this because I've seen it. You can too, if you look it up.

The only reason they aren't doing worse isn't because they don't want to, it's because they don't think they can.
