How Durbin plans to decide on another term:
"Whether I'm still physically able, mentally able to deal with the issues. This press conference is an indication that I still have my wits about me. And when it comes to the physical side of it, up and moving around, taking nourishment."
Iβll look forward to getting my social security checks at the Salvadoran labor camp in 20 years. If thereβs a choice between constitutional crisis and policy difference, PLEASE focus on the crisis.

We need to ban congressional stock tradingβand I've got a bill for that.
Yet even if this case now unfolds in the ideal way, Trumpβs aspirations toward unchecked power mean that the nation will never veer too far from the βpath of perfect lawlessness,β at least not as long as he remains in office."

New order from Judge Xinis regarding Kilmar Abrego Garcia:
β‘οΈGovernment must take all available steps to facilitate his return ASAP.
β‘οΈGov't must file, by Fri 9:30am, declaration confirming Garcia's current location and what steps have been and will be taken to return him.
β‘οΈStatus conference Fri 1pm.
The application is granted in part and denied in part, subject to the direction of this order. Due to the administrative stay issued by THE CHIEF JUSTICE, the deadline imposed by the District Court has now passed. To that extent, the Government's emergency application is effectively granted in part and the deadline in the challenged order is no longer effective. The rest of the District Court's order remains in effect but requires clarification on remand. The order properly requires the Government to "facilitate" Abrego Garcia's release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador. The intended scope of the term "effectuate" in the District Court's order is, however, unclear, and may exceed the District Court's authority. The District Court should clarify its directive, with due regard for the deference owed to the Executive Branch in the conduct of foreign affairs. For its part, the Government should be prepared to share what it can concerning the steps it has taken and the prospect of further steps. The order heretofore entered by THE CHIEF JUSTICE is vacated.
BREAKING: Supreme Court upholds district court order that the Trump administration "facilitate" the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was improperly sent to El Salvador.

What concrete steps could Dems take to improve their stance on immigration, that they didnβt take when Trump killed the bipartisan bill? Immigration has hurt Dems mostly because fear mongers can create horror stories about βothersβ more easily than they can about domestic issues.
