Oh dear. Long and pointless shift. Mainly due to the internet and people’s propensity to use it to stoke outrage and hostility. On an epic scale.

Nothing happened. But it might have. And if it did - it didn’t need to.

Early shift. Office cover. Huge list of small jobs to do. Strangely got more emails in one day off than I do when having annual leave. I should take more leave …

Monday - helping out with a training exercise. Admittedly not a lot of work but important to prep for reality.

In the office. Early shift. Apparently I’d volunteered to cover an exercise today. I’m definitely doing one on Monday… but today?

I’ll do it. I’ve clearly forgotten to make a note of it.

Workday #98 of 2025. Yesterday.

In the office. Early shift. My team not in. Not covering the office. Having the chance to clear the decks. And plan ahead a bit.

Does it taste as good as it looks?

Just been for a long walk. 14.16km on Strava in 2hrs 28 mins.

Then spent a lovely hour in the pub, day dreaming with two delicious half pints.

Musk & Trump can’t do that … who’s the fucking winner here?

In the office. Late shift. Chance to tidy up some bits & pieces before some days off. Looking forward to some lie ins.

Workday #96 of 2025. Friday.

Day 4 of course. Final consolidation exercise & short exam. Passed. Got another certificate for the folder. Interesting stuff. Back to the office for some final admin.

Workday #95 of 2025. Thursday

Day 3 of course. Nowhere near as interesting as day 2, but got to watch a Netflix doc as ‘homework’ - Astroworld on Wednesday and ‘The Final - Attack on Wembley’ on Thursday.

Day 2 of course. Venue - an OK hotel. Content - really good. Nice to be on a course where you feel like you’re learning something.

Workday #93 of 2025 - 2nd part of a national course.

Important qualification. Will put it into use later this year.

Workday #92 of 2025. Made a transition in an IT project.

Weird day at work … in a meeting I mentioned the overnight theft of a portaloo on a lorry and an arrest and I said ‘we now have something to go on… ‘

Also had to authorise an ‘all staff’ email reminding them not to use the toilet brushes for cleaning boots.

Office cover. Mountain of email slain yesterday. Now catching up with admin and having a call about GDPR.

Not gripping stuff.

Back in after 2 weeks off. 261 emails.
That said, being back in I got a further 34.

0 lives saved. 0 minds changed. Negligible impact.

But - I’d rather live in a society that allows such freedom of expression than not.

Workday #83 of 2025 - late cover again - office bound overseeing my half of the branch - things still very busy with the warm weather. The office is like a sauna - and now I’m on to an early shift tomorrow because geopolitical reasons.

Internal promotion process interviews. With an old colleague who has moved on. A good day. 3 strong, but very different candidates.

Today was more specialist role interviews. Two good, well prepared candidates.

All completed and back to the office to monitor some unfolding kerfuffle.

Workday #79 of 2025 (Tuesday). Admin day. Smashed a load of work that was festering a bit.

Excel spreadsheets can be amazing things.
