03.04.2025 16:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Ohioโs schools need at least $666M to be fully fundedโcloser to $800M with inflation. But the GOPโs budget only gives $226M and calls it a win. Itโs not. 90% of Ohioโs kids will feel the squeeze while local communities are stuck paying the price. Our kids deserve better.
02.04.2025 12:08 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Diversity isnโt the threat โ this racist bullshit is. I'm tired of lawmakers using students and teachers as pawns in their idiotic culture wars. S.B. 113 would ban DEI in public schools to protect...who exactly? Maybe Ohio Republicans should try fixing underfunded schools instead. Just a thought.
28.02.2025 15:01 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Itโs no wonder students and families want out of a state that values culture wars over their future. The Higher Ed Destruction Act is a Republican attack on Ohioansโtrading our future for cheap political points. Call your reps.

Letโs call this what it is: fucking cruel.
Cutting $3B from school meals means 280,000 kids in Ohio will go hungry. Thatโs 280,000 futures put at risk. Children whoโll sit in class with empty stomachs, already struggling to keep up.
This isn't policy. It's an attack on kids.

25.01.2025 02:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Speaker Huffman appointed Rep. Sarah Fowler Arthurโa homeschooled, non-college gradโto chair the House Ed Committee. Remember her? Sheโs the one who thinks the Holocaust should be taught from the Nazis' perspective. An โuninformedโ person and โinappropriateโ choice.

Doubling down. Smh
โThe speaker wants to slash at least $650 million in public education spending in this General Assembly's budget.โ
Pathetic leadership and a travesty for Ohioโs public school students & teachers.

This backlash isnโt just warrantedโitโs a call for accountability. Matt Huffman wants to defund public education. Instead of supporting the 90% of Ohioโs children in public schools, he's funneling $1B taxpayer dollars into private/religious schools with no accountability.
Letโs keep on them!
NEW: Arizona does not vet new voucher schools. Not even if the school or the online school โproviderโ has already failed, or was founded yesterday, or is operating out of a strip mall, or offers just a half hour of instruction per morning.

Weโve lost a man who truly embodied the best of America. President Carterโs life was a testament to service, compassion, & faith. He showed us that leadership is about lifting others & making the world better for everyone. We need more leaders like him, & Iโm grateful for the example he set.

Like, do you realize what that says about this society from an ethical perspective? That we made policy choices that caused this?

Private schools keep $1 BILLION of taxpayer money with ZERO accountability. No reporting on where that cash goes, no testing to see if kids are actually learning. This is a win for private school lobbyists and a slap in the face to every Ohioan paying the bill!
www.cleveland.com/news/2024/11...
Ohio's Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, goes all-in on axing the U.S. Dept. of Education. Closing it would rip away $18 billion per year from high-poverty schools, $15 billion from special education, $28 billion from Pell Grants to help high-performing kids in poverty go to college.
20.11.2024 14:38 โ ๐ 89 ๐ 57 ๐ฌ 12 ๐ 11In Ohio, 13.4% of people live in poverty, and 17.7% of our children do too. We rank 44th in health, property taxes have risen 23%, and rent is at an all-time high, while wages havenโt kept up. Too many are working two or three jobs just to get by.
But these are the priorities of the Ohio GOP.
Again, Ohio Republicans are targeting vulnerable communities with harmful, divisive policies. This isnโt about protecting anyone - itโs about politicizing peopleโs lives for the sake of division. Plain & simple.
