I don’t really share this but it’s got five figures of views, so I don’t know I need to

Alright, you freaks are making me drop the nuke.

Here is me in my senior year of high school as Bugs in a staged version of What’s Opera, Doc? that my chorus teacher was obsessed his whole career with doing.

Me in rabbit/Brunhilde drag. Hope this makes you smile, we need it today

This was a weird line of thinking when England screened a print of the original last yearβ€”that the cleanup efforts exposed how chintzy it looked, as if that matters to the most earnest and beloved fantasy film since The Wizard of Oz

The real fun is going to begin when unknowing nerds clash with too-knowing nerds over whether this almost certainly digital exhibition will most resemble the original 35mm stereo mix, mono mix, or 70mm multi-channel mix

This is the much funnier version of trying to offset the Kimmel hiatus with news of a new Muppet Show pilot. Disney’s like β€œquick they hate that merger, let’s look nice!!!”

This still may be the case, as there were differences in transitions and even sound mixing even after the film was released, depending on if you saw it in stereo/mono/35/70mm

BlueSky post from Mark Harris:

"I think the Netflix deal is ultimately better for movies and for WB than a Paramount deal (which I 100% believe would end WB) or a Comcast deal (which would take the two best-functioning studios in Hollywood and reduce them to one). I'm open to arguments, but "None of the above" isn't one."

And fuck THIS shit too! This industry didn't see two massive strikes just to say "go with the flow, better things aren't possible." Dumb!

I wouldn't say "moral imperative" but if this studio is going to go ahead with another Gremlins movie, I'd love to see it be even more vituperative toward its studio's vertical integration than even the second film was in the Time Warner era. (My fear is a soft-focus The Gizmo Awakens, naturally)

No Jersey is one of my favorite bands near the area which I live and they worked hard on this album, which is crazy because it sounds effortlessly catchy. Feel-good music for feel-bad times. #BandcampFriday recommendation, easy

This is the only correct position on this WB-Netflix disaster; I've seen more mannered-doofus "well at least it's not Paramount" and IP-brained "Netflix owns Batman!" takes than I'd ever care to see. To which I say: "cut it out"

Marisa brings up a point here that I’d not really thought about: her book was supposed to be her AND Lizza’s book. We don’t know the terms of the advance retention (and may never), but it’s not hard to imagine, given the club nature of these a-holes, his little blogs are meant to juice her somehow

A really funny rollout in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure is trying to wrap your head around if Pee-wee is a boy or a man, and then when Francis shows up, any concern for that goes immediately out the window

In Memoriam: Steve Cropper (1941-2025) - The Second Disc It's a sad fact that so much of America's musical infrastructure - the men and women whose session work powered thousands of pop chart hits and significant recordings - exists in near-obscurity. Consi...

This is why I will never understand production capitalism: it’s only a β€œmoney pit” to manufacture this stuff inasmuch as you have to pay factories to make those

From left, Steve Cropper (guitar), Dan Aykroyd/Elwood Blues (vocals/harmonica), Donald "Duck" Dunn (bass), John Belushi/Joliet Jake Blues (vocals) and Willie "Too Big" Hall (drums), part of The Blues Brothers as seen in the 1980 film of the same name

I've said before that Dan Aykroyd is the most benevolent example of making his autism everyone else's problem - and one of the greatest beneficiaries was Steve Cropper. God bless The Colonel and all The M.G.'s, now and forever

I don’t know if I self-identify as such but of the nearly dozen or so artist interviews I conducted this year, this was my favorite by far. Getting to interview one of my favorite underrated singer/songwriters was a real treat
