There is a real macro wealth effect question here, IMO.

When I started typing into various AI programs "who is the most likely suspect in the Jack the Ripper case" they all said Kosminsky. It confirms to me, in my opinion, that AI is absolutely capable of spouting absolute rubbish.

Listening to "The Rest is History" episode on Jack the Ripper, they a looking at possible suspects, Tom says:

Many Trump voters wanted state violence and shows of bigoted cruelty in service of making the US whiter. But other Trump voters bought a fantasy of stopping criminals.

As @gregsargent.bsky.social shows, seeing this in reality—eg building concentration camps—they don’t like it.

That’s a big wedge.

It really bums me out that Klobuchar, who was instrumental in normalizing Trump as just another political adversary, is almost certainly going to be the next governor of Minnesota, a state currently paying a severe price for that normalization of fascism.

Something very entertaining about Luigi is how cartoonishly good-looking he is, not like an A-lister or a model, but in how every image of his face looks like someone designed and drew it to conjure a specific emotion. Incredibly funny.

This is nonetheless more favorable terrain for Trump than for the American system. As New York Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan once wrote (here in The Post), “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.” Trump has for years stoked the idea that actually, having your own facts is fine. And even as his base chooses facts that he finds inconvenient in the moment, he’s still pushing toward the next phase: Everyone is entitled to the facts that Trump presents. What institutions of power will be left to disagree?
