Everyone enabling this government, and its effort to block this program, should be appropriately punished.

Just on a personal note, reporting this story broke my heart. Of all the unfathomable things Trump has done this year, putting SNAP recipients through this psychological hell tops the list. My endless gratitude to everyone who spoke to me. To all who who are suffering: I'm so sorry.

The voices of SNAP Recipients have become political pawns. They explained, in their own words, what Trump withholding funds has been like.

“I didn't exactly panic, but here's what was going through my head,” Liz in Wisconsin, 43, who receives SNAP benefits for her and her adult daughter, explained. “We have to eat. This money will not last. What happens in December? What about January? Do I have to make this food last all winter?”
