Thats also not to say that HDG doesnt support a huge range of sweet fluff alien romance stories. but both coexist, and many of the settings current darlings like Hypogeal or Independent Establishment weave the two together and really let inner conflicts about a terrifying monster who loves you shine

you might want to check out something like Independent Establishment, Sweet Poppy, Independence is Easy, or Mainspring! Affini are written as antagonistic forces & villians all the time, they just lean more "loving yandere with absolute systemic power" which supports a more cosmic horror/bliss vibe

I know where the misconception comes from, its from the humandomestication dot guide website, but that hasn't been updated in literally years and is WILDLY out of date about the shared HDG setting as actually written. It just happens to control the top google result over the community wiki, HDG.wiki

I searched the term "HDG" on here and it is funny how many posts think you cant use horror elements, as though literally EVERY ONE of the most popular fics in the entire setting isnt an erotic horror story.
