Did Mandelson get himself appointed Ambassador to the US to help in the global coverup of the trafficking of kids for sex? Pertinent line of inquiry in Parliament

Labour activists paid for smear campaign against journalists Labour Together, the group that helped make Keir Starmer leader, hired lobbyists who falsely suggested reporters were linked to Russia

Extraordinary attempts by the Labour Party to smear journalists - and this happening before the Epstein crisis engulfed it. www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

This is about the third or fourth time this issue has come up. Starmer definitely has a problem.

This is such an obvious shot/chaser scenario one almost hopes it comes to pass. Nothing of value will be lost.

This is all high comedy until you remember Starmer's replacement is probably someone who had to resign in temporary disgrace because she tried to fiddle her taxes

Anything with a sexual element gets compared to Profumo but this is really on the same scale as the entire Cambridge spy ring. Starmer cannot bury this, he is going anyway, we need to clean the stables.

You mean an OBR official who could be found to do what Reeves wanted after the Chair, who did have a problem with it, was forced to resign? Suggest you watch the Treasury Select Committee hearing on Tuesday

Absolutely mad that I have to resort to an FoI request (my first since 2019!) for something as simple as the minutes and agendas of the Farlington Marshes Management Committee. But I can have a guess why the City Council isn't keen to disclose the info

The Justice Secretary is now citing his memories of Jarndyce v Jarndyce in Dickens as an inspiration for scrapping jury trials. Despite J v J memorably being:
- fictional
- a civil case without a jury.

This is going well.

PM to defend Budget after Reeves forced to deny lying to public to justify tax hikes Calls for multiple investigations following accusations that the chancellor misled the public

This government gets the same scrutiny the previous government did when it was screwing things up badly. Seeing people go after journalists now is just daft. This is a big issue - in fact Reeves lied twice. If she was a banker or markets figure she'd already be under investigation

When Jim Callaghan lied to the Commons in the build-up to devaluation in 1967, he resigned. Rachel Reeves did the same thing ahead of her Budget and is refusing to follow his example.

Starmer has the certainty of a junkie in believing the lies he tells everyone else and himself. His own backbenchers don't believe him.

George Osborne carelessly used "austerity" so it's his fault for that. The tax rises, brain drain, capital flight, crushing of dreams, burdening of welfare bills, that's all Labour though

26.11.2025 17:54 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

That is a bit much. In weak moments I find myself buying cans for a carry out at th end of the night that I could order online and paying around double but not very often

26.11.2025 17:52 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

No, and that is the problem. We let Labour talk nonsense about "austerity" all the time spending and debt were going up. Now going up even quicker

It's a Budget of generational robbery and aspiration-crushing. It will drive skills and investment out of the UK and that makes the impact all the harsher. Reeves is initiating a decline spiral.

If this Budget doesn't make Conservatives finally come up with a coherent case for a smaller state, Triple Lock-abandoning and all, then all those fireworks from Kemi at the despatch box won't count for anything

26.11.2025 17:04 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

There isn't actually anything in the "leaked OBR report" that Reeves hadn't already leaked or had briefed out herself. It suits Labour to have a row about the OBR rather than their chaotic Budget, of course
