Mounting network drives wrongly was what put me off chatGPT too. Claude nailed that and is now happily writing scripts to build stuff from source for me, it's fantastic.

One of the big issues with Linux is finding instructions that look like what you want but are out of date, you run them and make a mess. Claude is damn good at understanding what you want and customising what you've found to make it run on your setup. chatGPT not so much.

A handy tip if you fancy moving to Linux is when you hit trouble, Claude is very good at making things work. Give it the problem, the URL of any instructions you've found and (this is important) what version of Linux you've installed and ask for step by step instructions.

Random shopping discovery: The referral string "&utm_source=chatgpt.com" makes a present I was looking at on Amazon vastly cheaper - £4 instead of £18. It's the first time I've ever clicked a product link on chatGPT. Unfortunately it's not a universal discount engine, of course I tried it.

Frequent gotchas are it making dummy functionality if it can't make actual functionality (but not telling you it did that), making fallback solutions that get used 100% of the time because it didn't fix the real problem and hard-coding data to remove access errors.
