🚨 SANDAG wants to oppose SB 79 - a bill that would allow housing near transit!

Their own plan calls for EXACTLY this, but they're protecting NIMBY cities instead of working folks who can't afford homes.

Email clerkoftheboard@sandag.org w/ comment before Friday's 9a meeting

Yes we do but they cannot run for president or in battlegrounds or the worst candidates win. Instead they should focus senate and congress and run in places where 1 party dominates. Then focus on making structural changes so the majority of Americans who don’t like either party are heard!

San Diego has the largest outdoor musical instrument in the world, the #SpreckelsOrgan! I teared up to #Edelweiss in the #SoundOfMusic Medley played by Spanish organist #RaΓΊlPrietoRamΓrez! His concert also featured Debussy, Bach, Liszt & Frank. It was a charmed, blue sky day too. πŸ©΅β˜€οΈ #BalboaPark

The Political Fight of the Century For the first time in decades, America has a chance to define its next political order. Trump offers fear, retribution, and scarcity. Liberals can stand for abundance.

i am quite sympathetic to the "abundance agenda" β€”Β we are a wealthy country! β€”Β but if the goal is to reshape the political order than i think its advocates need a vision for the constitutional order as well as a vision for public policy (cont.)

Buckle up California, this is the big one - a new bill from @scottwiener.bsky.social would legalize buildings up to 75 (maybe even 95) feet tall near train stations and rapid bus stops

In San Diego, the loss of several blocks of car-free street in downtown has angered local business owners. I understand the hesitancy, but they see the benefits once cars are excluded.

The system should be designed to have a citizen jury who change every month (randomly chosen) who can nominate leaders that then go for election/nominations. They can also propose changes to bills/executive rules and have budget to advertise why a bill/rule is bad/good so trust in govt can increase.

Opinion: Public Transit in San Diego Is at a Crossroads. Its Future Hinges on Investments, Not Cuts. Less frequent transit attracts fewer riders, leading to a 'death spiral,' with reduced revenues leading to more reduced services.

San Diego’s public transit system is at a crossroads. It can either become a world-class network or face cuts that leave people stranded. We need more investment in transit, not cuts. Our CEO @colinparent.bsky.social’s recent VOSD op-ed explains what's at stake: voiceofsandiego.org/2025/02/27/o...

YouTube video by The Fast Lane Truck I Drive the Most Revolutionary Truck In Decades: Meet the Telo MT1!

Fun video about the Telo, a new electric minitruck that's the size of a two-door Mini Cooper.

The Telo's standard bed is 5 feet (same as a Ford Ranger). Its back seats can fold down to make a 8-foot bed (same as the F-150 "long bed" option).
