I think the struggle would be more with just getting through it than with the nature of the contents.
The young adult genre has really pushed the bounds of what's acceptable content wise, while still being quite easy to read. Even still Young adults don't read very much.

I'm 100% on board for election reform.
I doubt this is what youean to imply, but some areas just aren't red and some aren't blue and that's okay

Just finished Women Race & Class by Angela Davis.

A fantastic history lesson spanning 1830s-1900s, the abolition of slavery, the black and women's suffrage movements. She focuses on the solidarity and conflicts between the movements.
Highly recommend.

My favorite book is Blankets by Craig Thompson.
Such a gorgeous coming of age memoir. It's about Craig's childhood growing up in Michigan, his wrestle with his faith, and his first love.
Reading this in the middle of the ocean in 2023 was like a big warm hug. I felt seen.
