Why would she be depicted with a breast exposed? I've just looked up her story and don't see why this should be so.

A bit like some folks to the south trying to claim Canada?

The best ones always are; Mother Nature is just playing with us sometimes.

My Anglo-Saxon weregild would be 180 shillings (β‰ˆ$23,400)! I was hit by a rock by a foreigner in a field. Calculate yours at weregild-calculator.com

Tamed by the swing spring of the MkIV Spitfire onwards - to become understeerers. Except on snow when they were enormous fun.

Allan Ahlberg, celebrated children's author, dies aged 87 He wrote more than 150 books, including The Jolly Postman and Each Peach Pear Plum.

How very sad, I've read his and his wife's books to small person so many times I can still recite many of them. Small person now in mid 30s.

My wife doesn't think the car on the wall thing is a good idea, either. Pity.

Yes! You've probably invented a new word - copyright it quickly.

They call that sort of thing a nightmare. Presumably the same during the day?

In fairness, the numbers of deer around here (rural W Suffolk) have increased significantly over the past 10 years or so. Also their only predator is the motor vehicle, so they're dangerous with it along with mangled carcasses by the roadside.
We don't get operas here to annoy them.

As a design it certainly lacks coherence.

An 'N'reg Morris 1000! Wouldn't it be fantastic if it survived. Probably built to a higher standard than the factory could have done?

In which it can be seen the chaps clearly having a perfectly rotten time of it, while the ladies have all the fun. Life, eh?

I've just done the same, apparently I look like an adult. Which is a shame since I suppose it means I'll have to act like one.

I've just read his 'Short History of England' (it was a gift, obligations). I'm no scholar - guess it's a GCSE pass because of the SPAG, but the content is, er, pretty one sided. Hatred of Europe is consistent, anything from Attlee's government is terrible etc.

Without wishing to appear unduly puerile, the use of 'bishopric' in such cases has always made me snigger.

Thank you, I've not been there for yonks*, I'll put it on the list.

My wife and my daughter came back from Portman Rd full to the brim of enjoyment. Thank you for keeping them amused. Strangely, neither mentioned the football.
