Influence of poly(A) sequences and genetic elements on iCre expression and induction of a hibernation-like state in mice - Journal of Comparative Physiology B Journal of Comparative Physiology B - Activation of hypothalamic QRFP-producing neurons (Q neurons) induces a hibernation-like state in mice, termed Q neurons–Induced Hypometabolism (QIH). To...

While improving a mouse QIH (synthetic torpor–like) model, we found that changing the polyA sequence downstream of a knock-in iCre caused unexpectedly large shifts in expression patterns. A modest observation, but useful for generating mouse lines with brain Cre expression.

An excellent resource for learning both the concepts and practical use of Bayesian statistics, especially for researchers working with real data.

The major difference this time is that he’s running two parallel tracks each week: Beginner and Experienced. The plan is to cover the entire Statistical Rethinking, 2nd edition by March.

These are real images of exoplanets.

Four super-Jupiters, imaged 10 times over 12 years around a star 133 lightyears away.

These are real, giant worlds, out there in the dark.

And we can see them.

Since it is inefficient to attempt to educate every reviewer individually, I am yeeting into your feed this clear paper from Gelman, Hill, and Yajima on how Bayesians can do even better than correcting for multiple comparisons. arxiv.org/abs/0907.2478

At IDC2024, solo developer Jiima shared how he uses errors as a tool: by stopping work at a "rough point," errors help him quickly resume tasks. This, along with regular game releases and unified themes, has fueled his success in seven years of solo game development.
