It’s a special #31DaysOfHalloween tonight as I caught GDT’s Frankenstein. It is a giant love letter to Mary Shelley’s novel, the films that came before, and especially artist Bernie Wrightson’s illustrations. Like most GDT, it’s beautiful, heartfelt, and maybe a little too on the nose at times.

Many heartfelt moments in @realgdt.bsky.social masterful Frankenstein, but the moment I welled up was (no spoilers) when I saw the slatted light in the grist mill and wanted so badly for Bernie Wrightson to have lived to see it, too.

Watched another #31DaysOfHalloween kids classic with the family tonight. I haven’t seen this one since I was a kid, but now I remember where I learned the phrase “booger lips!” The troll costumes and practical effects are pretty darn good, and the kids getting turned to wood is still kinda freaky.

There’s Christmas stuff up in stores already, so I figured it was time to watch Terrifier 3 for #31DaysOfHalloween. Art the Clown is still the sickest mainstream slasher ever, so this ain’t for the squeamish, but the return of Sienna Shaw from the last film at least gives you someone to root for.

#31DaysOfHalloween is quickly coming to an end, and I realized there are still so many favorites I haven’t had a chance to watch with the fam. So we went with this classic “scarier than it needed to be” special. I also found out my kid can quote Binky The Clown’s monologue at the beginning verbatim.
