Seeing so many posts about who “Starmer and Nandy” will appoint as director general. Easy mistake but the government does not appoint the director general! The BBC board, whose members are appointed for rolling terms by the culture secretary, appoints the director general.

If only Fox News or GB News were held to even 100th of the standard that the BBC is expected to operate.
Nandy needs to offer full throated support for the organisation. I fear she won't.

Well said Munira. Trump’s whipping up one bad mistake to undermine our public service broadcasting, which he’s largely destroyed in the US. Glad to see @libdems.org.uk leading on this when the PM and other parties slow on the uptake.
