Happy 1st of #August! The Gladiolus, one of this month’s birth #flowers, takes its name from the Roman ‘gladius’, a short sword its leaves resemble. In the Victorian Language of Flowers, it bore a noble message: moral integrity, steadfast honour, and strength of character.
