I enjoyed writing Kit so much in Goblin Heart that he’s now getting his own book. Whoops. He’s a delight because he has no qualms about fighting dirty.

I woke up at 4am and ended up making ads for Goblin Heart that might just be memes

Does itch allow Queer romance with open door scenes again, or is that still a no go? I’m getting contradicting info at the moment. I’m looking for more places than Amazon to sell my books, but I’m not sure if itch is worth it given its track record.

I had all these plans to write before work and during lunch, and then I burned my fingers (I am typing this with my thumbs and a pinky). Just realized that I need to somehow shave before work if I don’t want to out myself to 30+ people who might not be all that uh… positive about it.

Seriously. When I was fresh out of college, I might have seen a post like that as a chance to get my foot in the door (especially after my advisors pushed so many unpaid internships). Now I just see it as a huge red flag.

I’ve been looking for a second job for a while, and every now and then I get an email from a job site that’s like, “extremely stressful job, longest hours on earth, needs at least a PHD, $10 an hour”

When I was a kid, I was told that I couldn’t have an opinion on an author unless I’d read everything they’d ever written (I’d just given a scathing book report on A Horse and His Boy). So I read the complete works of several authors. Now I just have all that knowledge rattling around in my head.

- comb through Goblin Heart one more time before I leave it in my editor’s hands
- write a side story with the characters from book two so I can pin their voices down

That doesn’t make it bad! I’m sure that it deals with certain themes in a way that feels meaningful to plenty of people, or it seems to based on the hype. But the depth of the story would be overshadowed by my brain fixating on the darkest moments. I’m aware enough to step back.

Sometimes you just need to DNF something, and that’s all right. I just had to set down a game I was given because while I’m sure it gets better and tons of people love it, the beginning is so relentlessly grim that it resonates with my particular brand of depression in a bad way.
