Is flat-rate CloudFront worth it?
#aws #cloud #architecture
Is flat-rate CloudFront worth it? It *really* depends on what's important to you. Do you care more about cost or availability?

𧡠THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures Iβve ever read.
He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords
Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:
That feeling when you have a meeting about a project last discussed for 45 minutes 3 months ago

Strategic. You keep using that word... I do not think it means what you think it means.
10.01.2025 13:04 β π 29 π 5 π¬ 4 π 0I'd look at the S3 capabilities or AWS Backup based on the account setup. I think AWS Backup support is there with the AWS CDK, not sure about Terraform. The AWS APIs could for sure set up the S3 functionality. There is some AWS Prescriptive Guidance on the topic: docs.aws.amazon.com/prescriptive...
10.01.2025 15:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Are you interested in joining the AWS Community Builders program? It's for technical builders who create content focused on AWS services and has fantastic benefits, like info sessions and promotional credits.
Applications are open until January 20th.

If something feels "off" stop and don't send the money. Follow up with the person outside of social media. And please, have two-factor authentication set up on your social media and do not use SMS methods. They are not secure.

Please be on the look out for scams this time of year. One of my family members just got hit by one where they used AI to mimic a friend's face in a call and then "had call issues" and no audio came through. Their friend's Facebook account had been hacked.

I just got off a 4 hour call that could have been avoided if security groups had been set up consistently.

You know the meeting is over when Teams suddenly drops audio from the other participant. π€£ Luckily, I can do a little lip reading, and we finished things out smoothly. Thanks Teams...
04.12.2024 15:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Last night, AWS added support for S3 as a failed-event destination for async Lambda invocations. Meaning you don't have to worry about the payload size anymore. It also makes it easy to persist and potentially report on problematic events

AWS just released the ability to scale Aurora Serverless v2 to 0 ACUs! This is fantastic news for non-production environments that sit unused outside business hours and for developers running PoCs and small applications.

I've been experimenting with AWS FIS and have been impressed with what it can enable. You may have heard of Chaos Monkey, but there is more than that to chaos engineering. Check out my post, where I dig into FIS Lambda support.

Well, that's a new one. "We're not using SAFe, we're not even using dangerous." Chaos is the only word left to describe how this particular project is being run. #softwareEngineering #agile
