Funding Agency: please review this grant proposal in one month. Make an account, log in, see the abstract, if you say yes then we show you the proposal.
Me: I'm too busy, and anyway I'd need to see the whole proposal not an abstract.
FA: Ok, take one extra week. Here is the abstract attached.
I learned from the wonderful lecture of Stanislas Dehaene on Graphics Perception that Edmund Halley was the first to introduce the idea of a graph representing physical quantities (which we take for granted these days).
Stop by his house when in Oxford.

The duality of geometry and topology
Hey friends! I am interested in #geometry, #topology, and #MachineLearning. Silent lurker for some time, but now with the recent influx, I'd love to engage more.
If you followed me from the 'other place' but I did not follow you back, let me know! The notifications here are sometimes a bit much...
Two postdoctoral positions in applied algebraic topology at Oxford! Come ride with us.

This is like saying "everything is oxygenal" because the people who tried to prove these results were breathing.
17.11.2024 11:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If "all things are politics" then your assertion becomes "I have an incomplete understanding of all things." I hope we can agree that this holds for everyone, political scientist or otherwise.
A simple refutation: the fact that there are infinitely many prime numbers is not political.
Perhaps one source of confusion, then, is the massive oversimplification that occurs between whatever nuanced view you actually hold and its easily refutable three word summary.
16.11.2024 21:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Genuine question for those who make this claim: is this an axiom to you, or something that may be falsified with enough evidence? In what sense, if any, is this different from a priest declaring that all (including atheism) flows from God?
