Indeed - doesn't exactly restore faith in politics does it. Not a single Labour MP, not even Mary Creagh the Minister for Nature.

The remarkable rise of eBird – the world’s biggest citizen science project In 2002, an online database was set up allowing birdwatchers to record their species observations. It is now a vast resource, shaping scientific research.

I'm long-term loyal to @birdtrack.bsky.social and think it's brilliant, but this is an interesting, encouraging read, highlighting how many young people are contributing to large, enlightening datasets and generally engaging with wild birds. At a UK level that's probably true for BirdTrack.

Swift Conservation Homepage Swifts are the most exciting birds you can have over your village, town or city, but they are in sad decline. Find out everything you need to know to help them survive and thrive and enliven your skie...

Yes of course! Many instances of swift bricks working. Check out www.swift-conservation.org

Callers can help attract and have been observed to speed up the occupancy take up

Having declared a nature emergency and with swifts shamefully on their way to extinction in Wales surely the Welsh Govt need to pull out
all the stops. It is so disappointing that Labour are not meeting their obligations to future generations who may be deprived of witnessing these wonderful birds.

02.10.2025 19:21 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Also very disappointing from @rebeccaevansms.bsky.social who felt that swift bricks could detract from rather than complement biodiversity measures and swift bricks might be left with the only outcome. It is surely possible to ensure that this is not the case?

Thanks to those who spoke in favour of the petition but some awful contributions too. Joel James's comments about the mess caused by swifts revealed his ignorance. Imagine having the confidence to speak in a debate yet have so little knowledge of the bird in question.
