Oh, I 100% agree with you. I think in those relationships the focus almost always turns to a "heroic sacrifice" narrative about the cis-het guy because he's The Protagonist giving something up for the trans woman, who is seen as unfortunate at best and vile at worst.

Like, if I started dating a man—perish the thought—a ton of people would see him as a particularly deviant gay man (though they would use less polite terms). It matters how we see ourselves, but it still opens him up to queerphobic violence and I take that seriously.

On this one I have a fairly strong opinion that people don't like. I see the relationship as both particularly skewed toward the man *and also* queer, because even though you've got a man dating a woman, society at large isn't going to see them that way, and that's a whole other dynamic to consider.

Yeah, nearly every relationship I've seen like this is a cis man who secretly, if not openly, calls himself straight and sees his partner as a lesser woman. That's why I said the general dynamic always gives me a lot of pause; the power dynamic is even more skewed in the man's favor, all else equal

Oh, I do too. 💜 You see the same thing with bi cis women in "straight-passing" relationships. They might say their relationship is queer, but bi cis women in relationships with cis men, on average, fare worse than their straight counterparts or lesbians on a lot of outcomes, iirc.

All of the trans woman competition bans follow a simple logic. They see us as men, and they see us competing with cis women in any capacity as unfair because they see cis women as inferior in every aspect to even "failed" men.

I cannot stress enough how much these people hate and detest women.

We're in the middle of a global backlash against feminism in which the prevailing line of thought is that women are inferior to men in every capacity, to the extent that no woman can successfully compete with a man in any circumstance.

There's a balance to walk between not implying the nonbinary person is a cis woman and not pretending that cis men don't frequently treat their AFAB nonbinary partners like cis women with even fewer rights. Idk about their individual dynamic, but the general case gives me some pause
