I don't disagree that "price fixing" is very much a negative practice in American housing and a lot of different factions contribute to it. I'm saying the economy can be excellent and not work for housing. That housing is especially at risk of negative wealth inequality effects far more than GDP.

The left also needs to demonstrate the ability to effectively govern and I think we're going to see plenty of that from Mayor Mamdani. There are many leftists though I see as whole heartedly incompetent of effective governance, like isn't that whole DSA needing to lay off people still a thing?

Like honestly, think about it, your landlord doubled your rent cause he or she thinks they can get double for it. They're not gonna think they can get double for it if the economy is bad. The problem isn't the totaled economic output of the nation, it's the difference in those earning and owning.

Housing affordability is inversely correlated with wealth inequality, not a bad economy. You can have wealth inequality in economically successful places and unsuccessful places alike. Detroit has a bad economy, but it has some of the lowest homelessness rates in America.
