10.08.2025 21:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Here's a couple of rules that would eliminate SOME of the garbage we see:
* No ad hominem comments
* No assertions of criminal intent that aren't backed up by legal findings
We should be developing a corpus of such rules against which any AI could be judged. Those that fail should be held liable.
When do you suppose Trump will shake down SMU?? π€
09.08.2025 01:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0sooner we build a better alternative to the kleptocracy / plutocracy / kakistocracy that Trump is working feverishly to build, the better off blue state residents will be. It's not a plan to save America, it's only a plan to give blue state residents the fair representation they deserve.

LOYALTY.
And first on his list of people to be crushed are all Democrats.
It's not likely to get better before it gets worse.
States that secede will attract professionals in government, law, armed forces, medical research, and climate science who have been laid off by the Trumpies. The

The time to plan is now.
Trump has proved over and over that he doesn't understand the Constitution, that he doesn't care about the law, and that the only quality he values is

When should blue states give serious consideration to secession?
Should we wait until SCOTUS finds that everything that DOGE did was not just permissible but necessary?
Or until the Trump administration runs a 5th year census, eliminating anyone they consider illegal?
Or until Trump

And the Electoral College amplifies both imbalances.
So sure, let's try to gerrymander a few more seats in the House. Just remember that the Constitution is stacked against the blue states anyway.

Conservatives have been languishing in the glow of minority rule:
The House is skewed toward low population states. CA has 35% fewer members than it should on the basis of population.
The Senate represents states rather than people. 9 states have more than 50% of U.S. population but only

It's good to see that SOMEONE still believes in congressional oversight.
There are multiple lawsuits alleging that DOGE had no legitimate authority to do what it did. When will they be adjudicated? EVERY ONE of these cases should have gone to the front of the line!!!
Our legal system SUCKS!
One option to consider would be to include a few other selections from the laws given to Moses, such as the method of forgiving sins described in Leviticus 4.

But every bit as naive and reckless are the Senate Republicans who voted to approve this loser-- ESPECIALLY Senator Cassidy, a physician, who should certainly have known better. They're morally bankrupt.
Maybe someone at the National Archives should just make sure that the original Constitution isn't likely to get abridged, or burned.... π€

06.08.2025 15:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Why does Rubin want to hurt Trump? When specifically did Ms. Rubin threaten to hurt Trump violently?
Maybe because Trump's Project 2025 is out to destroy our constitutional order. It's a declaration of class war, one which the Republicans in Congress fully support. I think that's reason enough.
Huh? I've been following Ms. Rubin for quite some time. To what specific "violent intentions" are you referring?
06.08.2025 03:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0May I suggest that the House take up an investigation of Watergate too, because I'm pretty sure that if they were to dig deep enough they'd find that Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama colluded to frame Richard Nixon for the break-in.

Just wondering-- how long before the Trumpies ban all forms of media other than X?

The Senate represents states, not people
The Electoral College amplifies both imbalances
More generally both House and Senate represent state based localities. Neither represents the national character-- and that's the real crux of the problem.

Great analysis by Marc Elias, as usual. Count me as one of those "bringing a machine gun to a gun fight" types.
And yes the possible obliteration of the VRA is extremely important. But the broader context of voting in the U.S. is that we are under minority rule:

Yup. Trump is very good at selling fantasy to his followers.
But I'm betting this will be different. You can't hide job loss and rising inflation. Eventually Trump's nutty economic policies will hurt his own voters, and that will likely lead to a very ugly awakening.
There are anti-democratic rules like the filibuster that make it difficult to move legislation through Congress
These are some of the anti-democratic roadblocks built into our constitutional order. We need a massive overhaul. Here are some suggestions:

Good analysis.
As I see it the major problem in the U.S. is that we're living under minority rule:
House is skewed toward low population states
Senate represents states rather than people
Electoral College amplifies both imbalances

In 2016 Trump said the U.S. murder rate was at a 50 year high. Wrong-- it was at a 50 year low.
He said Obama wasn't an American citizen. Also wrong-- and he even refused to accept the evidence of Obama's birth certificate.
Trump killed any notion of truth years ago-- and his supporters loved it.
Here are my thoughts about AI, with specific recommendations on legal constraints:

I was born in Portland OR, lived in the U.S. my whole life, but the ICE maniacs are so abusive and so ignorant of the law that I don't feel safe here either.
The best advice I can offer is to stay away until this madness blows over. But TBH I really don't know how long that will take. π
It is a declaration of war on anyone who does not openly profess to be a Christian nationalist. They are inches from adopting an explicit declaration of one party rule.
The only realistic alternative at that point would be secession.
I would LOVE to see someone on MSM-- someone who is sensitive to the concerns and fears of victims-- to interview Ms. "Johnson" on air. Rachel Maddow perhaps?
I saw excerpts of her 2016 video testimony and was utterly revolted. The American people need to hear that their prez raped a 13 year old.
