This is why students have almost universally adopted AI, they see the essay as a useless skill that must be endured and bypassed if possible.

I learned a long time ago that most people don't enjoy writing, we do, that's why we're academics.
One of the biggest criticisms of legal education was that we were relying too heavily on a system that expected students to write like us, when most of them would never do that in the future.

It wouldn't bother me on FB or Insta, that's what it's for, but LinkedIn really bugs me.

I think it bothers me so much because I'm the exact opposite. I'd rather eat glass than willingly post a picture of myself.

I follow someone on LinkedIn who has never posted anything without a picture or a video of themselves. New copyright case? Selfie. Conference? Selfie. New paper? Selfie. Comment? Selfie. Personal news? Video.

I hadn't realised until today how much it was unconsciously bothering me.

I'm actually not surprised, he's always been pro-tech and anti-copyright. Walkaway was extremely pro-tech novel with some advanced AI to boot. But then most of his audience turned against AI and interestingly strongly pro-copyright, so it's a bit of audience capture.

Oh I still do that over at Instagram, but only for places I've never visited before, at some point I ran out of new places 😀

The last one was the pyramids in September.

Finished a couple of very busy teaching weeks, a report is coming out soon, and I'm up to date with my prep, marking and admin.

I was curious about whether I have used "it's not just x, it's y" in my writing. I went through a period 10 years ago when I was using it, but not since.

While the court did not award copyright, it didn't rule it out either, intellectual creation still needed, and this has to be human. But if AI is more like a tool and user can prove intellectual creation, copyright is possible. But not in this case.
