Very candid and helpful explanation by Kakaoβs Head of Privacy at #GPA25 about the value of proactively engaging with regulators to educate on #AI innovation despite the fears of not getting the feedback you wish for.
This is a very mature approach which requires mutual trust.

ICOβs John Edwards argues convincingly at #GPA25 that it is possible to anticipate today the privacy risks of tomorrowβs agentic #AI and we act accordingly applying the existing legal framework. He adds that tools like privacy impact assessments will be particularly useful in this context.

EDPB Chair Ana Talus focusing on two important aspects for the legality of #AI development at #GPA25:

2025 State of the Union Address by President von der Leyen
President von der Leyen delivered the first State of the Union Address of the 2024-2029 Commission. \n
Clear message from @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu to those wondering whether Europe will soften its digital regulation stance:
βWhether on environmental or digital regulation.
We set our own standards.
We set our own regulations.
Europe will always decide for itself.β

In my view, the right thing is to do both: starting to set the necessary rules now while keeping them flexible so they can evolve as technology does.

I think that a slightly different approach is more accurate. An intern is a human with feelings and emotions. AI is a tool that has no sense of ego or entitlement, but which is very powerful and must be used with utmost caution and responsibility by humans.

Perhaps the most important difference between πͺπΊ&πΊπΈ approaches to #AI public policy is that the EU is mainly about exercising caution and the US is about accelerating innovation.

5οΈβ£ Ultimately, the answer to our current professional challenge has to be finding ways in which our ability to interact with others is a key component of what we offer. Sometimes it will be unexpected creativity, sometimes instinctive empathy, sometimes providing human reassurance. Donβt give up.
12.08.2025 07:52 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
4οΈβ£ Each profession is valuable and useful in different ways but when thinking about how to compete with #AI driven automation, we should focus on what #AI cannot do (or at least will never do as well as humans). Our ability to interact with others is truly our human killer app, so maximise that.
12.08.2025 07:52 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0
3οΈβ£ In practical terms, this means that we all need to find our strengths, nurture them and find how they can be valuable to others. Following your passions is essential but those passions need to be of use to others, and that is often the tricky bit, #AI or not #AI.
12.08.2025 07:52 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0
2οΈβ£ Being a professional is about making the most of your talents through initiative and effort in a way that creates value for others. That premise works for every profession and will always be a valid one. Being a successful professional is about combining those aspects to maximum effect.
12.08.2025 07:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
1οΈβ£ Human will always need humans. I simply donβt buy that #AI will make us obsolete. The world is not a science fiction film. #AI may show our human imperfections but we should believe in ourselves humble human beings and our unlimited capacity to create, interact, empathise, help others and love.
