I'm becoming such an AI bro, it's so bad... I can't stop the urge to get into arguments around accelerationism and x-risk...

Damn who put all these nails everywhere? Oh well, good thing I brought, of all my tools, only this hammer

Yeah. I mean there are multiple groups, and the algos (Discover, For You) clearly do something personalised bc there are loads of furries on here but I see zero. But early days, still think this will be the best X competitor long term

Updating. I think Bluesky kind of sucks actually. Algorithmic feed curation tools are just not there and I see too much stuff I don't want to

Hah yeah. I remember a few years ago looking at it thinking it's insane how complicated it is to draw a triangle. I have to write a program in a whole-ass other language to say it's red? But it makes more sense now, esp considering DX12 etc are even more complex

Tangentially- about a year ago I decided to learn OpenGL. I have produced literally nothing in the way of graphics, but I *have* created a novel FRP reactivity library. Which I will definitely use for OpenGL stuff. Eventually.

FWIW, it depends heavily on vibes/chemistry and how good they are

I think users probably care less about actual algorithms than they do the seeds/weights. Like what I want is "playlists" where I make collections of accounts and then browse algo feeds based on those. Basically like alts but just for the browsing part.

so far Bluesky is pretty cool but none of the algorithmic feeds feel up-to-scratch with X's For You. Also I hope they open this place up soon!!

Do you mean content-wise or how frequent they are? Frequency I think is chosen by the uploader, and some of them just pile them on, it's awful

Tbf pauseai.info is about systems more powerful than GPT-4. I think Grok is just slightly better than 3.5

Niceee, I have The Incal on my shelf. Crazy book, reads like an improv'ed RPG campaign, story is incoherent but the art is great

All I want is a leftism which is intellectually honest, *genuinely* liberal (not punitive), but with some understanding of power dynamics. Is that too much to ask? 🙏

I always get so confused by "move it forward/back" with events

Metta/loving-kindness meditation is one of the most underdeveloped in terms of teaching practices. "Imagine things that make you happy :)" do you KNOW how much mental infrastructure there is out there to explicitly avoid this

I haven't had a crush in yeeears, idk if it's inherently a younger thing but I weirdly miss how much that messes you up lol. In the last ~1yr I get a lot more attention from women when I go out (which is honestly v important for my younger self) but deeper interest is just not there, on both sides 😔

Something I miss from Twitter/X is seeing why posts are on the algorithm feed - "liked by __" or at least being able to mouse-over a profile and see who follows them. Very useful for curating a good feed

Wow this was unexpected, I wasn't trying to antagonise you at all but you've made a crazy amount of wrong assumptions about me here, unfortunately though I am an individual person with a mixture of beliefs and not just a stand-in for all the ideas you hate

Is there? I think you're underestimating the diversity. In fact one of the big divides I see in my circles at the moment is EA risk people vs crypto accelerationist people.

Roko's Basilisk is very much not a core tenet of AI risk and treating it as such feels like a strawman

It doesn't have to be that contrived. E.g. writing can contain errors but otherwise be very good

The latest in my gradual acceptance of woo is that I think chakras might be real. At least not in the metaphysical sense but it seems right there are places on the body where stuff gets focused or blocked. Will report back
