Amidst everything happening in the world right now it is so inspiring to see people rally around our community like never before. The turnout at the TDOV rallies, the Protect Trans Youth rallies, and the outpouring of solidarity we are seeing in response to anti-trans rhetoric is just incredible.

Being public in this environment is always going to come at some personal cost. But the only way that we have ever won something as a community is by fighting for it, by being visible, public and loud.

I needed to let her know not to share personal details that could be used against me by opponents or hate groups.

I had already done a social media cleanup, was not sharing photos from near where I live, and earlier that month I had applied to get my name taken off the electoral roll.

I remember a few years ago I had to have a conversation with my mum. I told her that I had decided to be more public with my campaigning and that this extra attention would likely pose a risk to me and Aimee’s safety and so I had taken extra security measures.
