Wishing a safe and successful deployment to the members of our Phoenix Fire Department as they head to Texas tonight to assist with flood recovery efforts.

I’m grateful for their service and bravery in times of crisis. My heart is with the victims of this tragedy.

I also want to thank Acting Police Chief Dennis Orender, who did an excellent job over the last few months, for his continued service to our city and the department.

I'm pleased to welcome back Matthew Giordano to the Phoenix Police Department as our new Police Chief. He brings deep understanding of law enforcement and our city to lead our great department.

I look forward to working with him to keep Phoenix safe and continue reforms made by City Council.

This ‘big’ bill hurts Phoenix families especially the most vulnerable among us, and it jeopardizes our economy . . . all to give huge tax breaks to billionaires.

Call your Member of Congress and demand they defeat this Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Bill.

At the same time, it cuts clean energy and drives up consumer electricity bills.

That’s especially dangerous—and life-threatening for many—in the Arizona summers.

Trump’s bill cuts food assistance to those in need—aid that helped more than 900,000 Arizonans last year. In Arizona, 68% of those who get help are families with kids. Nearly 30% are seniors or those with disabilities.

These cuts are cruel.

It guts clean energy investment and puts Arizona’s solar industry—which contributes more than $7 billion each year to our economy—at serious risk.

Arizona is leading the way in solar, but Trump’s bill aims to kill these good jobs.

If passed, it would be the largest cut to health care in US history. More than 350,000 seniors, veterans, and working-class Arizonans would get the boot.

Medicaid is an important tool to help us fight homelessness and get medical care for vulnerable people.

There’s no sugar-coating: Trump’s ‘big’ bill is terrible for Arizona and will hurt us here in Phoenix.
