Wishing a safe and successful deployment to the members of our Phoenix Fire Department as they head to Texas tonight to assist with flood recovery efforts.

Statement from Climate Mayors leadership, including Chair Mayor Gallego, and Vice Chairs Mayor McLean and Mayor Dickens, stating: "Today, Congress betrayed its promise to the hardworking people of this country by passing a bill that guts clean energy tax credits, raising costs for families and businesses at a time when more than half of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Creating more affordable cities that donโ€™t price out the people who built them means investing in the tools and programs that we know lower costs - and that includes clean energy."

This โ€˜bigโ€™ bill hurts Phoenix families especially the most vulnerable among us, and it jeopardizes our economy . . . all to give huge tax breaks to billionaires.

Call your Member of Congress and demand they defeat this Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Bill.

02.07.2025 22:59 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

At the same time, it cuts clean energy and drives up consumer electricity bills.

Thatโ€™s especially dangerousโ€”and life-threatening for manyโ€”in the Arizona summers.

02.07.2025 22:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Trumpโ€™s bill cuts food assistance to those in needโ€”aid that helped more than 900,000 Arizonans last year. In Arizona, 68% of those who get help are families with kids. Nearly 30% are seniors or those with disabilities.

These cuts are cruel.

02.07.2025 22:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 3    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 1

It guts clean energy investment and puts Arizonaโ€™s solar industryโ€”which contributes more than $7 billion each year to our economyโ€”at serious risk.

Arizona is leading the way in solar, but Trumpโ€™s bill aims to kill these good jobs.

02.07.2025 22:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 3    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 1

If passed, it would be the largest cut to health care in US history. More than 350,000 seniors, veterans, and working-class Arizonans would get the boot.

Medicaid is an important tool to help us fight homelessness and get medical care for vulnerable people.

Thereโ€™s no sugar-coating: Trumpโ€™s โ€˜bigโ€™ bill is terrible for Arizona and will hurt us here in Phoenix.

Weโ€™ve also delivered for families: expanding Head Start, supporting working parents with paid leave, and passing the GO Bond to build new libraries, splash pads, and spaces for kids to learn and grow.
