... and while they are at it, appliances that don't beep. Every flaming thing in the kitchen produces the same annoying beep. The microwave is the worst offender - if you don't remove the stuff immediately, it keeps beeping every ten seconds 😠

Looks like an Epson RX- or MX-80 if I am not mistaken.

Not precisely that one - but I have built the half size G5RV and a couple of chokes from HF Kits. I would recommend them - the kits are very well put together.

RomWBW is excellent. I already have it running on my RC2014. However, a pocket sized CP/M machine is a big attraction!

How did I miss the fact that Herbie Flowers died last September?

I saw him perform years ago, and met him afterwards. He came across as a thoroughly nice guy.

Another great gone. πŸ™

They were actually a pretty good camera for a compact. There was also a Z-UP 80 RC model which had a little remote control for remote shutter release. Pretty impressive stuff for the time!

I have spent some pennies on one of these...

It should be arriving today, and I am ridiculously excited!

I think the same is mostly true of all vintage hardware. Unless it is something genuinely rare or in outstanding condition at the end of the day, it's just e-waste.

Doesn't stop me wanting it, though!

Does wearing three robes limit reduce your combat advantage by limiting your ability to move properly?!?

No need to recap unless it's absolutely necessary.

I am sure you must have heard the version of the Sailor's Hornpipe with his commentary? It was apparently recorded at the Manor in the small hours of the morning but was deemed too "out there" for the Album.

A fairly accurate representation of a Class 47 cab, I'd say!

Never played it on the C64, but I did on the Spectrum, and it was fiendishly difficult IIRC.

One thing's for sure. There won't be much modern tech around in 70 years like that Philco telly we were talking about the other day!

That's probably not that far out. Don't forget the primary current will be much less than the heater current. Due to the transformer ratio. The aforementioned 5U4G has a 5V heater - So although the output heater current is 4A, the input will be 4A / (120V / 5V) = 0.16A (give or take).

I just noticed it on the location plan. It's a valve I happen to know!

I'm not surprised! There's a lot of copper and iron in there. The heater (or technically the cathode, given that it's directly heated) on that 5U4G rectifier pulls 3A on its own!

I had a cassette player very similar to that Ferguson attached to my Spectrum. It was branded WHSmith though. I don't think it cost 45 quid new!

Looks a little like Gauntlet. Plus, there was a version of Rogue if I remember correctly. Although, neither were 128k games.
