Lowkey implication is that police need to speed through here to pursue criminals, which seems like a bad idea in a dense neighborhood.
Public safety means protecting people from traffic violence, too.

I love Free Range Kids and am a big fan of the founder (co-author of this piece) but she has a real blind spot when it comes to the role cars have played in limiting kids ability to roam and play IMO

We simply cannot afford a doom loop for TriMet. Reduction in service will lead to a reduction in ridership, leading to declining fares, more cuts, ๐ The cost will be increased congestion, further deterioration in PBOT assets and of course emissions. We canโt afford that. Call your state reps.

Itโs a terrible bill. It will literally kill people. The most vulnerable among us will suffer as the wealthiest benefit. Itโs perverse. I wish there were something I could do. But alas, I am only a U.S. Senator from Alaska whose โnoโ vote would kill the bill. So I voted yes. You get it.

I don't think the average American understands how many folks pay for nursing home care through Medicaid. It's not just poor people. This is oversimplifying but, the way our system is set up is that you sell everything you own to pay for it, then you apply for medicaid to pay for the rest.
