Meta earns $3.5 billion every six months from showing Faceboon and Instagram users 15 billion “higher legal risk” scam ad impressions a day, internal documents state.
That haul vastly exceeds how much the company expects regulators
To fine it for running scam ads.

If you are a grant maker please know that your "contact" person very rarely responds to enquiries and always leaves applicants wondering if they should bother with your organisation at all. The quality of your applications relate to this experience.

I'm a little confused as to why UN Women Australia has chosen a different #IWD25 theme to UN Women? March Forward vs Rights. Equality. Empowerment. Don't get me started on that other corporate mob.

Behind the scenes, the company was also quietly dismantling a system to prevent the spread of misinformation. When the company announced on Jan. 7 that it would end its fact-checking partnerships, the company also instructed teams responsible for ranking content in the company’s apps to stop penalizing misinformation, according to sources and an internal document obtained by Platformer.
The result is that the sort of viral hoaxes that ran roughshod over the platform during the 2016 US presidential election — “Pope Francis endorses Trump,” Pizzagate, and all the rest — are now just as eligible for free amplification on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads as true stories.
NEW: Meta has quietly dismantled the system that prevented misinformation from spreading in the United States. Machine-learning classifiers that once identified viral hoaxes and limited their reach have now been switched off, Platformer has learned www.platformer.news/meta-ends-mi...

Experiencing some weird notifications of new followers but they aren't showing in the activity feed. Assuming this is related to the Meta exodus?

Will absolutely miss the delectable dishes at Khamsa Eatery. Apart from fantastic food, Sarah has been a critical voice in the area on the Palestinian cause.

Finding it fun stumbling across old users from Twitter that I followed back in the day. And by that I mean around 2009-10.

Have to say I really enjoyed "Missing You" another Harlan Coben installation. I would however like to know how one author's work has secured this much TV production budget

I'm getting old. Crossing the Tasman still leaves me adjusting to the 2 hour time difference especially if I have spent anything more than 3 weeks there. I am falling asleep in 3pm meetings and looking forward to shutting down. Takes a full week to adjust.

If it were my kid they would be back at 7pm asking where's dinner. They would happily do 2 dinners.

How's the return to work for those who have landed? Breaks are terrible because it gives me time to think. Which is dangerous because then I ask questions like these bit.ly/4059XQN
