When abroad I really don't mind my name being pronounced "Tonni" because my efforts at pronouncing other names are probably worse. And where naming conventions are different I'm not annoyed at being "Mister Tonni" in a work environment. But better educated people should know to get it right.

I agree with this 100%, even though my preferred name is a contraction of my given name. But I always try to pronounce unfamiliar names correctly as a matter of courtesy, and detest the "Ooh I don't think I can manage that" from some people.

I'm no cat person but even I know that won't be enough to keep the cat off. 🐈😀
