Most of the bands I met were actually really nice and chill, but they were not on majors, DIY-ing everything or going through Dutch tour management things, so a tall long-haired guy called Dirk who shpoke 5 languagesh fluently wish the shame akshent.

As far as I know, it's not even actual money in most cases, it's more like you're on a water slide where everything is constantly facilitated for you. Hotels, food, travel, alcohol, drugs, groupies, etc. You don't actually need money in this context, it's all-inclusive. But you can't off.

That's the thing, the '80s punk scene was a reaction against both '70s cocaine studio rock scene and the McLaren shenanigans with the Sex Pistols, the self-destructiveness etc. Because you could see that didn't really end well. No one's like "Yeah I want to OD at 27".

I don't know him, but I do know the scene well, and it's mostly just weirdos and misfits who wanted to make music, on their own terms, not be rock stars. Obviously, the majors flashed the cash at one point, and it just fucked a lot of people up. Not all, but a good few who otherwise wouldn't have.

Love the first two LPs, saw them at the time. I'm a similar age and from the same scene, my take is that these are people entirely maladapted to fame. Everyone is in a sense, but none more so then this generation and this scene, they all should have been left alone to make great music, in a corner.

Sadly, this doesn't actually work and LSD in particular would likely have a sobering effect on idiots and make them question themselves, more than anything else.

They're pretty Alpine, in a way. Not derogatory. Most of my PE teachers in high school were CZ Olympians, one Vladimir was absolutely amazing: he came to oil the hinges of our door at 2am on a ski trip, as we had all the alcohol reserves.

I grew up in Switzerland, with a lot more Czechoslovaks (at the time) than Poles. Some of whom were married to Poles and though they could speak it, but nope. I've never encountered the reverse, which must exist, but yes it's absolutely hilarious. I love it. You can get two words, and then WHAT?

With the mother, it was just impossible to speak Polish/Czech with each other, we had to move to English/German. It's excruciatingly close, but so so far.

Nature is healing. I once had a Czech-Polish girlfriend and meeting her parents was absolutely psychedelic. Her dad spoke Polish (he had to give up his citizenship in 1945), as well as about 7 other languages, and just cycled through them mid-sentence when we spoke, but we had a vibe and a blast.

It was the year I started going out, and playing music. Very much changed my life, in particular going from nerdy weirdo bookworm to cool hip weirdo because of my weirdo musical tastes. Still don't really get it, but hey, attractive girls suddenly thought I was cool. I did not file a complaint.

Any moral quandaries I might have are subsumed by the fact that I made a deal and that I am stupidly honour-bound by such things. It is *very* difficult to make me do something I do not want to, but sometimes you just have to accept you've been bested and struggling would only draw the net tighter.

I vote solely because my gran tricked me when I was 36. I couldn't easily vote before because I was in different country, and she just nagged me into it when I came back.

Judging by most comments I see from British mutuals here: pissing people off? This may sound unduly flippant, but I do see a lot of that. They've alienated the centre/left by putting out feelers to attract the anti-immigration vote, which they're not going to get anyway. Bit silly really.
