It's always struck me how David Sylvain's journey from front cover pop star into the farthest reaches of the Experimental/Avant Garde is even wilder than BjΓΆrk's.
(Even wilder, I guess, that BjΓΆrk still gets the Sunday supplement front covers when she releases new stuff)

Alongside all the weird stuff, I have loved Rush since I was 50 something years younger, so this is bringing a tear of joy to my eye.

Just as in my 30s I developed an allergy to chromium iodide, recently I have lost my tolerance for 'cringe' comedy. First Ballad of Wallis Island, now Alan Partridge.π₯Ί

He certainly used to insist it's his best film.

Yes, because he makes 60% of current films. I understand his compulsion to make as many films as humanly possible but I really wish he'd made more effort on just a few.
And not be such a pompous arse about it.

Yes, one of mine too, at least that I recall off the top of my mind.

It's hard to know how best to mark the death of Jilly Cooper - there is no Concorde to bonk on and I don't have a horse to go and pour out my feelings to in the stables while being groped by an aristo. Perhaps just a glass of fizz and a bracing walk with an unusually sensitive dog.

Disappointed that Dame Hilary never got to write her Mantel With Aplomb.

Yeah, I'm glad I didn't know until decades later. But still utterly convincing nonetheless.

'Crazy Earl' lived next down to my best mate in Clapton Square. It's remarkable how the Essex countryside, with the little streams and ditches beside the roads that feature in Ring Of Bright Water, so believably become padi fields etc.

Scene from the film, where a U.S. Marines helicopter is landing, in front of a bombed out building and huge palm tree. But in the fog behind stands a pylon that looks very familiar.
Looking for bits of FULL METAL JACKET to show visitors what Docklands looked like until the late 1980s. While still marveling at the sleight of hand by the production to convert it into war-torn Vietnam, I spot a very British pylon.

Thing is, and this is the last time I'll bang on about him, I really enjoyed and laughed along with Tim Key's bit in the new Alan Partridge. He's basically the Itchy & Scratchy du nos jours.

Same here, though I was rather looking forward to hearing what mawkish nonsense Carey Mulligan was writing at the piano before they decided to forget about that plotline altogether to give Tim Key even more time to drive me up the bloody wall.
