The graph shows the dramatic increase in flood events on the rivers Wye, Severn and Teme.
The article concludes by speaking of mitigation measures required at local, national and global scales. Yes, however...
No mention of the adaptation measures needed for flood safety. Are there any?
An interesting reflection of a BBC reporter looking at how climate change has impacted the West Midlands since 2000.
Flooding on the Severn, Wye and Teme rivers happened five times in five years back then.
Now, there are five times as many flood incidents.

Packed out room in the European Parliament tonight for the (re)launch of the SEArica Intergroup (seas, rivers, islands & coastal areas).
Lots of much needed focus on pollution and blue economy.
Albeit a lack of discussion on the interplay of climate with sea level rise and extreme weather βοΈ

Reducing the amount of water taken from the De Lank River, in the River Camel catchment goes towards cleaning up the mess caused by SWW mismanagement.
But one big investment in infrastructure after years of misuse of water does not a-sustainable-water-programme-make.

The main suggestions are:
GREEN
RED
YELLOW (buff)
BLUE
Which is your personal preference and why?

Also, it seems to communicate a clear no-go to drivers although perhaps also invokes anger. Would be interesting to study what other colours exist and why.

Do you see a role for communities in the decision-making process concerning flood management and not just the clean-up efforts? I wonder what are the challenges of integrating this into town and parish council structures.

Authorities cannot hold back the river. Decisions about how to manage the risks of flooding are sorely needed.
Striking similarities with authorities under scrutiny for lack of preparedness following floods in both Wales and Valencia.
#Climate adapted flood plans are not new. Flood safety in Belgium pivoted from flood control to flood risk approach early 00s, creating more space for the river and #nature
